Redesign the entrance area of the refuge and ensure safe access!

As Refugium e.V., we have both consultation rooms for our migration and asylum procedure advice (apartment in the front building) and a neighborhood center, the SQUAT (Solidarisches Quartier, in the rear building). Here we offer various formats for meetings, exchanges, creative activities and joint leisure activities, also supported by volunteers.
Current highlights are the dancing and cooking evenings.
To get to SQUAT, you have to pass through a long, dark yellow passageway that is often very littered after the weekend, which doesn't give the impression of a safe place, but rather has a forbidding effect and is also difficult to find in the dark. The courtyard itself is bright and open, but access is a real, permanent problem.
We would like to work together on this: We would like to paint the walls light gray (white gets dingy too quickly...) and then add colorful design elements with the help of a graffiti group from Braunschweig. (Usually prevents new tags or spraying.)

An interest in manual work (painting, screwing, assembly) is an advantage.

Please wear clothes that may get paint stains, we cannot provide protective clothing.
Material and equipment are on site.
Food and drinks will also be provided (lunch, snacks, water, coffee, tea).

As an association, we are impartial when it comes to racism and discrimination, we work in a culturally sensitive way and see ourselves as a consistent lobby for people with a history of flight or migration. We want our helpers to share this attitude.
